This is one of my fav blend of plants and very close friends. Vervain, Hawthorn + Yarrow. I’ve been working with these three plants for years, specifically in the evening ritual, and I always feel stronger pull to do so during liminal times, during late Autumn, through Samhain. + Scorpio Szn, of course, feel free to connect with the plants, brew, and see what comes through. Lovely to work with during Full Moon Rituals, or any ritual you feel called to. Years ago, I worked with Hawthorn elixir during the day, then drinking Vervain tea in the evening and this is where I realised that they were a potent duo. Dreams were potent, reoccurring patterns, threads in the dreams, and Hawthorn would appear in my dreams almost every time. There are many medicinal actions of each plant, but personally, this formula is very potent for me to access deep, vivid + informative dreams. I feel like Hawthorn helps us delve deeper into the underworld, into our psyche, subconscious, into the Otherworld, where Vervain brings profoundly vivid + informative dreams, helps with recollection + understanding of the messages we receive during our dream journey. Yarrow for protection, discernment, for seeing clearly and to support + safeguard the body + soul as we cross the threshold.

Few words about plant allies:

Hawthorn, heart healing, protection, boundaries. Hawthorn is a guide + protector of the heart, known as a portal to the Otherworld. There are countless myths surrounding Hawthorn, such as the story of those who fall asleep beneath the tree, only to be taken away by the fairy folk. Hawthorn represents the sacred cycles of life, death + rebirth. The blossoms of Hawthorn tree contain the chemical compound known as Triethylamine, which is the very same substance released when animal flesh begins to decompose, it can also be found in human sweat and is released in reproductive fluids during intimate moments. Hawthorn blossoms have a very unique scent that attracts various pollinators, they symbolise fertility, love + renewal. Hawthorn is a tonic for the heart, physical + spiritual. They strengthen the heart, improve circulation, may help lower blood pressure, and also support vascular elasticity. Hawthorn holds us during times of loss, grief, heartbreak, or emotional stress, helping us settle our spirit, nourish + nurture a heavy heart. Hawthorn helps us transform deeply buried grief, resentment, heartache, or heartbreak, restoring hope, love, trust + forgiveness, reminding us of our strength + resilience. A beautiful guide. Teacher of loving + healthy boundaries.

Vervain is a very special + sacred plant teacher, many different cultures worked with Vervain for medicinal, ritual + spiritual purposes for thousands of years. They are a cleansing, protective + dream plant ally, helping us connect deeper with our intuition, our wise + well ancestors and to bring on lucid dreaming, peace + harmony into our space. Vervain connect us with the the third eye + crown energy centres, bridging our intuition + inspiration with the material world, bringing the flow of vital energy into the body. As physical medicine Vervain is a bitter tonic, restorative, when we feel run down, for nervous system exhaustion, melancholy, low moods, and when we struggle to sleep due to excessive thinking. They are calming plant friend, helpful with easing stress + tension, esp. held in the neck, shoulders or jaw. Supportive for headaches, liver, gallbladder, menstrual cramps + ease menopausal symptoms like hot flashes.

Yarrow is called Krwawnik back home, which translates to “bleed”, or to staunch bleeding. They are a sacred Plantcestors who have walked with our great grandmothers, healers, midwives, witches.  Bundles of Yarrow were hung above doorways or woven into charms for protection, tucked under pillows to support dreamtime + crossing the threshold to safeguard the body  + soul, as well as in love divination + fertility. Yarrow is ruled by Venus + Fire element, with a strong affinity for the blood and a long list of medicinal uses + actions. Yarrow affects many systems in the body and carries many complexities + paradoxes, for instance, they can bring on menses and also stop heavy bleeding. They may help with fever, inflammation, infections, and also move stagnation helping us flow with ease, bringing this harmony. Yarrow is often called the Wounded Healer or Wounded Warrior, which goes back to the story of Achilles and Chiron representing the archetypal dynamics that the medicine of Yarrow mirrors strongly, esp. for the Soul. They offer protection, boundaries, courage + clarity, esp. when we are navigating liminal spaces. Yarrow often appears in times of transition when we’re navigating liminal spaces, endings, death. Yarrow helps us release what is not ours to carry, including ancestral patterns + teaches us where harmony is needed. Yarrow helps us see beyond illusion and reveals where we may still be contributing to the cycles we actually want to dismantle. Yarrow is a medicine for all warriors, activists, healers and those in service to others. Those that faced their sacred wounds and turned them into wisdom, so they can truly be in service to other people. For those who identify as empaths or highly sensitive, Yarrow is a beautiful teacher of boundaries, showing us how to establish strong and loving boundaries, also not crossing others.

Ingredients: Hawthorn (flowers, leaves + crushed berries), Vervain + Blue Vervain, Yarrow

Reusable glass jars with approx. 30 servings, if using 1teaspoon.

Suggested : 1-2 teaspoons of herbs per cup of freshly boiled water. Cover + steep for 10 min. Vervain is bitter, the longer you steep the bitter the brew. For me, 1 teaspoon is enough, steeped for 15 min. Feel free to add some honey or sweetness of your choice, however, is also lovely to experience the tea without any sweetness. Connect with the plants, speak your intentions into the brew, ask them to guide you. For rituals, or dreamwork I like to work with Spirit Speak Visioning Salve, which you can read more about in separate losting).

do not use during pregnancy. As always, consult your practitioner before consuming this tea, if you are on any medication, or breastfeeding.
